oh spare us!

I read in The Cape Times on Friday that one of N’Sync’s members ‘came out’. I think his name is Lance Bass. It was a very small article, just one paragraph with a picture of the singer.

He said the reason for waiting so long to come out was that he did not want to hurt N’Sync’s image.

Oh come on!

I am so fed-up with gay people who feel they cannot come out because they need to protect someone or some thing. I think there are circumstances where staying hidden makes sense, because coming out is just downright dangerous. It’s sad, but it’s true.

However, if you live in a country like the USA or South Africa and you feel you cannot come out because you will hurt your band’s image, your own image, or your family then I have very little sympathy and even less respect for you.

Maybe I’m being very harsh here and maybe, as is often the case, a big mouth. But it’s time people grow some backbone.

Your thoughts please.

My thought is - with a name like Lance Bass was there any need to come out? I mean, lose the B...
